Studio SETSAMA is an independent Swiss game studio up of Stéphane Chevrolet and Marielle Chevrolet, telling stories using 3D gaming is our passion.
EARLY HISTORY
SETSAMA Studio was officially founded by Stéphane Chevrolet in 2021, fulfilling a desire to join the video game industry with a first game, Somnos.
The development of Somnos started in 2019, with very limited means and resources. As the months passed, the game’s visuals became richer and more precise, making the project bigger but also more demanding. The idea of incorporating real locations into the 3D world of the game was validated during the pandemic crisis. Linking the real and the imaginary through a colourful video game production is the promise of Somnos.
RECENT
In 2021, the studio formalised its creation. In June 2021, Marielle Chevrolet joins the studio to head up communications, marketing and finance, and in October, Stéphane Chevrolet will become a full-time producer of Somnos.
Project
Somnos is a first person view adventure game, developed by SETSAMA Studio and scheduled for release in June 2022. Inspired by point’n’clik games such as Kyrandia or Monkey Island, the game takes place in an imaginary world filled with natural or artificial structures with elven, dwarven, Celtic or medieval European influences. The player progresses through the adventure by solving puzzles hidden in the environment and later in the game, he will have elemental magic, giving him access to other areas of the game. Some of these riddles are inspired by the tales and legends of the Jura. A quest and chapter system allows the player to follow his progress.
When the story begins, the hero finds himself locked in a crypt, the exit being blocked by rubble preventing him from opening the gate that leads outside. The first mission is to find an alternative way out by observing the scenery. The hero soon arrives in a large room surrounded by extinguished braziers, with an impressive statue of a woman at its centre. As he approaches the structure, the braziers light up and the first elements of the plot are revealed to the hero. Nox, goddess of the night and protector of Somnos, is consumed by a force that undermines her power, dragging the world into destructive chaos. Our hero must find a way to counter this threat and restore order to Somnos.
